Aeromexico (AM) has announced record third-quarter revenues of MXP
$10.5 billion ($807.8 million), a 10.1% increase, although net income of
MXP $423 million was down from MXP $615 for the same period last year.
Yields improved 6.6%, while RPKs grew 2%. ASKs increased 6% and boarding passenger numbers increased 2% to 3.8 million. Load factors were down 3.7 percentage point to 77.1%.
Operating expenses were MXP $976 million compared with MXP $1.2 billion last year.
Cargo revenues grew 132% to MXP532 million, partly due to the financial consolidation of AM’s Cargo business unit,” the company said.
A 7% depreciation of the Mexican peso compared to the US dollar, a 6.3% increase in fuel prices, operations’ growth and Aeromexico Cargos consolidation were the main factors impacting costs.
The AM Group took delivery of two Embraer 190s, two 170s and two Boeing 737-800s in the period. It also announced a letter of intent with Boeing to buy up to 90 Boeing 737-8 Max and 10 787-9s in an estimated $11 billion deal (ATW Daily News, July 25).
